You may have noticed a new logo floating around Facebook and Instagram. Every so often I go through what I refer to as an "identity crisis" (yes, photographers have those... I've had a few in my time). This particular crisis was rather long lasting though. I just couldn't settle on a look that was "me"! After a few months of playing around... flop after flop on the drawing board... logo design up to my eyeballs... it clicked. Kinda like a camera does (ha)! My circle of friends and family know what a perfectly healthy and productive obsession I have with all things FLAMINGO. If you've never seen my office, I will proudly give you a tour. But be prepared... long necks, long legs, beautiful beaks, and pink feathers galore!
The logo fell into place. The business card design worked itself out. And one of the most exciting things... after years & years I have retired my trusted ol' workhorse camera and upgraded to a new system. I have just about a month worth of use under my belt with "The New Girl in Town". The verdict: I love it like flamingos. Quirky, yet beautiful. How's that for a camera description?! The ol' girl will still be around for a while though. She's served me well throughout this journey. But I look forward to all of the special moments I will get to capture through this new beauty. Photographing larger families has always been somewhat of an adventure for me. I love capturing each family member's personality and bringing it all together for a fun session. Also, we all know my soft spot for redheads...
The question that seems to be popping up everywhere: "Where did summer go"? Quite frankly, I believe we all blinked and missed it. Or maybe it was all of that rain... and more rain... and did I mention the rain?
Our family spent a week at our favorite beach, Stone Harbor, NJ. The weather was absolutely perfect!! While I am sad that school is back in session, and our summer flew by in the blink of an eye, I am thankful for these memories with my family. Until next year, you beautiful ocean blue! Congrats to The Daily Item "All About Baby" contest winner: Mike, Tara, & their sweet little one, Kendall! I had so much fun working with this adorable family. Here's a little preview of their session...
A favorite aspect of my job would have to be the people that I get to meet. Sometimes I meet a family from out of town and we keep in touch through the years. Sometimes I have the privilege of watching a family grow from engagement to wedding, wedding to baby, baby to lots of babies! And then there was this one time... this one time a family contacted me for portraits and there was an instant friendship. That friendship turned into best friends who take vacations together, best friends who hate when too much time goes between visits, best friends with husbands who have become friends, and best friends with kiddos who adore each other.
This family has come to mean so much to me & my family. They are a wonderful example of a marriage where God is put first. They are talented and giving... humble and kind... and I'm so honored to be asked to capture these moments in their lives. One such moment was captured during this session. Psst... It's in the last photo. Because I love these memories... the day I first met the Weavers... and now. It's all fun and games... until... there is no until with this one. This session truly was pure laughter. Beginning to end, there was gut-busting, trouble holding the camera at times, outrageous laughter. This group of moms and grandma held nothing back when it came to getting those wide grins and beyond.
I'll let the pictures speak (maybe even giggle) for themselves... I may have mentioned a time or two in my career that I LOVE birth photography. Maybe just a time or two? There are no words to accurately describe the experience from this end. I have four beautiful boys, so I am aware of birth from that angle. But to witness it... it's just incredible. What is even better than this? Having the opportunity to watch the journey is just spectacular! To go from baby bump to delivery room, from delivery room to first week at home, is just an honor to even be asked to capture these life moments!
One such journey that I recently had the privilege of capturing is the journey of Catherine Grace. This beautiful little girl was my fastest delivery & most cooperative (aka sleepiest) newborn EVER. She has the sweetest little smile while she's sleeping. Can I get an "awwwwww"? If you are interested in learning more about birth photography or my package that includes maternity, birth, and newborn at a special package price, contact me on here or facebook. Enjoy the journey. |
